Less than 100 casks maturing at The Macallan distillery have contributed to the creation of this out of character whisky. These mysterious casks remained untouched in the dark warehouses of The Macallan under the watchful eye of Macallan’s Whisky Maker, until he felt they were ready to be released.This edition was originally released as a Travel Retail Edition and speaks to Macallan’s present commitment to experimentation. All the barrels used to create this were Sherry Seasoned European and American Oak Casks, mostly first fill. Smoky Macallan is rare – there is very little in existence – and once used these casks will be no more.
