The “Urbino” porcelain dinner service from KPM was designed originally by Trude Petri in 1930-32. “New objectiveness” was the demand of the Deutsches Werksbund (German Word Federation), a German association of artists, architects, designers and industrialists, as well as the famous Bauhaus art school at the beginning of the last . “Urbino” is based on the elementary form of the circle and sphere, and takes its inspiration from the ceramic plates, with their relinquished borders, popular during the North Italian Renaissance. The timeless design of the shapes used in dinner service is what catches the eye. The china can be found in the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in as well as in the Louvre (Musée des Arts Décoratifs).
